Initial Training Sessions for Our Anti-Violence Project

Teilnehmende einer ICC-T-Fortbildung in Arusha

Following the media attention in January, it has now truly begun: the first training sessions for our ICC-T programme took place in April and June 2025. 32 teachers from schools in and around Arusha participated — coordinated by Ibrahimu Mkopi, who has been leading the anti-violence programme since 2023.

The training sessions were deliberately held during school holidays to allow teachers an intensive, undisturbed period of professional development. The content focuses on non-violent conflict resolution and the creation of safe learning environments — developed in collaboration with Bielefeld University and the University of Dar es Salaam.

These early training sessions were the kick-off for a larger endeavour: a total of ten training sessions, involving more than 300 teachers, are planned to take place by December 2026.
