Take a Malaika e.V.
“Malaika” means angel in Swahili - this inspired the name of our association. When everything began with a small sewing project in Arusha in early 2019, the first products were little colourful angels. Take a Malaika e.V. is the German partner association that works closely with our NGO Home of Malaika in Tanzania.
Founding & purpose of the association
On 26.02.2019, the founding meeting of “Take a Malaika” e.V. took place. The purpose of the association is to promote development cooperation through ideational and financial support of projects in Tanzania. It has been recognised as a non-profit since August 2022 and today has 39 members. As a small business it is exempt from VAT (§ 19 UStG).
- Promoting development cooperation through ideational and financial support of projects in Tanzania.
- Establishing independent small-scale projects that improve the living conditions of socially disadvantaged groups.
- Carrying out small-scale projects within organised local associations or international non-profit non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
- Promoting education, upbringing, training and further education.
- Help for self-help - so that projects can remain sustainable through their own strength in the long term.
The association is registered on register sheet VR 2286 at the Amtsgericht Limburg.

Non-profit status
The Finanzamt Limburg-Weilburg has recognised our non-profit status. Our statutes meet the requirements of §§ 51, 59, 60 and 61 of the German Fiscal Code (AO). The purpose of our non-profit status is development cooperation (§ 52 para. 2 sentence 1 no. 15 AO).
